A HEADS UP TO THE UPCOMING FRIDAY THE 13th, the only
one for the remainder of the Year 2018.
I
read an interesting article about this Friday being a Friday the 13th
day. There really should be such notices at times, and especially this being
the last event of its kind for the year.
Superstitious
people, here is the low down on some of the history and how this got its
reputation, if you know what I mean.
Actually,
Friday has always had its share of bad vibes, since for some reason at one time
it was considered the time to hang someone. It is considered not only the sixth
day of the week, but it also has some good days.
But
according to my sources, for the superstitious, it is considered an unlucky day
and has a very long history in the public’s mind because the execution of
criminals sentenced to death for some reason was set for Friday and this was
done so much it became known in the very olden days as “hangman’s day.”
Of
course, my source for this is old, very old, but when I tried to look it up in
a Modern Dictionary, I could not even find Friday the 13th at all.
Maybe
people are just not as superstitious as they used to be. Maybe no one believes
it is bad luck to walk under an open ladder, or let a black cat cross your
path. But I can remember when people would warn each other, “Uh oh,” they would
say, “Friday is FRIDAY THE 13TH!
Some
would squib at this point, “Well, I won’t come to work that day then, you will
find me hiding under my bed.”
SO,
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO STILL GREET THIS NEWS WITH A SHIVER, I PRESENT THIS LITTLE
NOTICE.
