COLLECTING PAPER DOLLS BY ROMANCE NOVELIST ANNA PATTERSON

COLLECTING PAPER DOLLS BY ROMANCE NOVELIST ANNA PATTERSON

TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH, I don’t know when I started collecting paper dolls. I do remember going to the Grocery Store as a child, getting to pick out either a couple of funny books to buy and read or a book of paper dolls to cut out.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I was looking over my messages and found one from Pinterest about something I might like to add to a board of mine.
They were right. I have a Board over there on Pinterest called Vintage Paper Dolls, and another called Hobby. Both have accumulated hordes of paper dolls examples, many really of a vintage quality.
Also, this week I am going through filing cabinets of stories I wrote or started years ago. I call it my inspiration files. There I found an old paper doll which I had torn out of a magazine which was about making porcelain dolls. As I said, I was wondering when does a hobby start, but I know for sure, many are worth starting even today, because they are interesting, inspiring at times, and of course teach important life lessons.
Sooner or later, my parents told me to start making my own paper dolls. They gave me the paper, scissors, watercolor paints, and shoe boxes and I did this. This later lead to me going to art classes and earning a degree in art. Paper crafts have been around forever just about, and paper dolls are as interesting today as they were when I was a little girl trying to learn how to draw.
The photo I am sharing today is the paper I tore out of the old doll magazine many years ago and it ended up stuck to some unfinished manuscripts in a file cabinet. I thought I would share this.
I also am sharing some images from paper dolls from my boards on Pinterest.
Just thought I would share today.
Anyone wanting to share their own experiences with these things, drop me a note.
Sincerely,
Romance Novelist Anna Patterson

I actually had one of these when I was a little girl. Beautiful still to me.

paper dolls like this inspired me to try to make them myself. I became an artist because of this.

March is Mardi Gras Carnival Month

Spring is here, and March is a month which includes Mardi Gras Carnivals.
I found these beautiful images of this on Wikimedia Commons images. They have many wonderful photos there of these events.
 Here are a few:
